Italy>Tuscany > Toscana IGT
Eyes: Dark PurpleMouth: berries, cherry, dry, round, well-structured
Alcohol Content: 14%
Ratings: 93 pts James Suckling
From the Winemaker: Wine of great immediacy, of an intense purple color. The profile is dominated by Syrah and Sangiovese, marasca cherry and mammola violet. The tannin is light. The finish is long, leaving the palate dry and round.
At the time when Paolo Edoardo Giusti and Fabio Zanza first began in 1995, the area of Scopicci, known for its rolling hills, was witnessing a rebirth of new ideas and inovating thinking that would transform the way wine was being produced there. The 9.5-hectare estate rests on the hills of Scopicci and is run by one of Italy's premier agricologists, Stefano Chioccioli. A rarity in Italy, Stefano specializes both in the vineyard and the winery.
The philosophy at I Giusti & Zanza is the essential embodiment of research into quality, always in pursuit of the highest quality that is possible from the estate. From a techhnical view, the guided efforts of Dr. Stefano Chiccioli have completely revised the winery with improvements in the cellar as well as in the vineyard.

From the Winemaker: The Clos Englora's name comes from about one of the emblematic tops of the Montsant's range, which tops highs more than 1000 mts above sea level. Our logotype is an abstract and personal representation of the mentioned top. The AV14 nomenclature means that the grapes we have used come from "aged vineyards", and the number 14, is approximately the time that wine remains in barrels.

Ratings: 94 pts James Suckling
From the Winemaker: The vineyards lie at the foot of the Andes Mountains, barely a thousand meters away from the Mendoza River. The vines receive fresh breezes descending from the mountains and blowing along the river, all of which contributes to the generation of wide temperature ranges. The soil is predominantly alluvial, with a clay-loam surface, and rock is found at a depth of 60 cm (23.4 in). And so it is that Finca La Mascota finds itself set in perfect surroundings, and one the most renowned and prestigious wine-growing regions in Mendoza.
